Cockroach extermination

Unfortunately, it is a fact that controlling cockroaches is practically difficult.

Almost all property owners in Philadelphia will discover a roach on their property at some point or another. When it comes to tiny roaches like the German cockroach, the horrible thing about roaches is that when you see one, there are possibly dozens more that you don't see. Not only do cockroaches spread disease. One of the pests that multiply the fastest and can attack your home, they spread by themselves. Some cockroach species have a monthly reproductive capacity of several dozen young per female. That means within a few months, you might have hundreds of roaches if you bring in a few breeding females.

The good news is that you can take a few steps to stop an issue before it starts.

Prevention (food)

Making your home less appealing to cockroaches is the best thing you can do to keep them out.

The steps you take to prevent cockroaches will fortunately help get rid of other pests like ants and rats.

Maintaining a clean home is the first line of defense against these pests:

Eliminate messes caused by unfinished or leftover food.

Keep your trash in a closed container and routinely remove it from your living area.

Food should be kept in sealed containers in your pantry.

Regularly vacuum your home to cut down on their access to food.

Fix any potential entrance points from the outside, such as openings beneath doors, around pipes, and cracks around window casings.

Prevention (water)

Cockroaches may still become an issue in your home despite your best attempts to keep it clean.

Since they can go for nearly a month without eating, cockroaches will wait until a food supply is present.

They can, however, only go without water for roughly a week.

Cockroach water sources should be removed by:

Removing pet water on a regular basis.

If you have a cockroach problem, you might choose to remove the water overnight because that is when they are most active.

Looking for leaky pipes in the utility room, near the washer, and under the sink.

Cockroaches prefer wet, gloomy environments.

Look for any leaks in the basement and crawlspace.

Keep in mind that cockroaches can squeeze through pipes and into very narrow locations to access other.

Eliminate cockroaches

There isn't much you can do on your own if you do end up with an infestation, unfortunately.

The roaches that sticky traps and poison baits are supposed to kill have probably already replaced themselves ten times over because cockroaches are resistant to many chemicals and multiply so quickly. Thankfully, you don't have to do it alone.
